What Happens After the PRD has been created?

A Product Requirements Document (PRD) is the beginning of the work.

Its purpose is to define what the product should do and why it matters.

Once the PRD is ready, the next phase is execution.

Typically, the flow looks like this:

  1. Product requirements are defined in the PRD

  2. The design team translates those requirements into interfaces or user flows

  3. Development begins based on the approved design

  4. The Project Manager helps track execution against the plan

During this stage, the role of the Project Manager becomes critical.

The Project Manager ensures that what the team is building still aligns with what was defined in the PRD. If something changes or becomes unclear, it should be raised early so that the Product Manager can clarify the direction.

The PRD defines the vision.
The project process ensures the vision becomes real.
